turmeric latte

A turmeric latte is probably one of the most recent addition to many cafe’s hot drinks menu! And how cool that they’re incorporating such potent superfoods in beverage menus!turmeric latte

Turmeric is an excellent anti-inflammatory agent and anti-microbial. It should be a go-to ingredient especially when you’re feeling under the weather, no matter what the ailment. This spice mix is not like most other ‘golden latte’ mixes you’ll see. It packs a chilli punch, the cardamom adds a component that just takes it to another level, while black pepper enhances the anti-inflammatory properties of the turmeric!

I love to use 1/2-1 tsp of the spice mix with some warm coconut milk to make a golden turmeric latte, but I also regularly add it to smoothies, dips, soups and even Bliss Balls (look out for recipe coming soon)!

Ingredients:

This is a smoothie bowl I made by blending 1/4 of an Avocado, 1 tsp chia seeds, 1 tsp turmeric latte spice mix, 1/2 a nectarine, 1/2 Cup zucchini, 2 heaped Tbsp plain rice protein powder, 1 tsp coconut butter with coconut water and ice. Topped with coconut flakes, goji, bukinis and cacao nibs, it made such a delicious breakfast!

  • 2 T (30mL) ground turmeric
  • 1 T (15mL) ground cinnamon
  • 1 t (5mL) ground ginger
  • 1/2 t (2.5mL) ground cardamom
  • 1/2 t (2.5mL) mesquite
  • 1/2 t (2.5mL) ground chilli (perhaps start with a little less if you don’t like chilli that much)
  • 1/4 t (1.25mL) ground black pepper

Method:

  1. Place all ingredients into a jar, close the lid and shake the jar to combine.
  2. Store in the pantry in the jar.
