Bangers and Cauliflower Mash with Caramelised Red Onion

Bangers & Mash! You find it served in many places around the world from Australia to the UK, Eastern Europe to the US. And with the amazing hand-made, organic and pastured gourmet sausages coming to the market at the moment there’s even more reason to enjoy this meal!

Recipe Type: GF, DF, RSF, Paleo

Serves 1
Time 20 mins


  • 1 serving of Cauliflower & Broccoli Mash
  • 1 (or 2, depending on your appetite) organic, gourmet sausage
  • 1/2 red onion, sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 4-5 button mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 T balsamic vinegar
  • a serving of your favourite greens (I had snow peas on this evening)


  1. Make your Cauliflower & Broccoli Mash as per this recipe.
  2. Grill or bake your sausage until cooked through
  3. Sautee onion, garlic and mushrooms in a pan for about 3 minutes until cooked down, add balsamic vinegar to caramelise and infuse flavour for 2 more minutes.
  4. Steam/cook your greens as desired
  5. Serve all components on a plate; sausage, caramelised red onion + mushrooms, cauliflower mash, greens.
  6. Devour!
